Repair Affair 2011
HEP has received funding from the Kentucky Housing Corporation to double our number of Repair Affair homes in 2011. To reach this goal of 20 homes, we need to match the funds by doubling our number of volunteers and raising at least $10,000 locally. To achieve this goal we will have two events of two Saturdays each. In August, we will be working on six homes on August 13th & 20th. Then in October, we hope to work on 15 homes on the weekends of Oct. 8th and 15th.

What is Repair Affair?
Home Energy Partners' (HEP) Repair Affair is a community-wide initiative sponsored by the Kentucky Housing Corporation that addresses minor repair needs of low income, elderly, and disabled homeowners in Madison County. The selected home applications will receive safety, security or energy efficient improvements, such as:

. Roof Repair
. Insulation
. Minor Wall and/or Floor Repair
. Wheelchair Ramps/Handrails
Repairs will also include mobility accessibility issues or repairing living accommodations for elderly or persons with a disability to make housing more accessible. HEP will work with selected homeowners to address their overall energy efficiency housing rehabilitation needs with additional resources and coordination of construction.
Who can apply
Very-low-income homeowners (60% Area Median Income) with emergency and minor housing repair needs are encouraged to apply. Applications can be downloaded???, or by calling 859-985-8718. House Sponsors
$250-1,000 Donation
* The cost of building materials and coordination for each Repair Affair home will average $2,000. House Sponsors are required to provide at least $250 toward this cost, with the balance raised by HEP.
100 - 150 Volunteer Hours
* House Sponsors will provide a minimum of 100 hours for volunteer labor within a 10 day period. This is typically accomplished through a work crew of 7-10 volunteers on the two Saturdays during the Repair Affair Event. Each House Sponsor will need to assign a Work Crew Coordinator and a Work Crew Leader who has sufficient skills to lead the volunteers. Homes will be assigned based on the skill level of the crew leader and the volunteers, all skills are welcome. The Work Crew Coordinator will be the contact person for the organization and the Work Crew Leader will be responsible for leading the volunteers on the job site. The Coordinator and Crew Leader can be the same person if desired.
Meals
* House Sponsors will provide food and beverages for their work crew and families on the designated work days. This is typically done by volunteers who are not able to assist in the repair construction.
